Get to know the brain behind Florrie

Hi, I’m Claire!

I’m a web designer who feels just as at home knitting cozy garments as I do crafting thoughtful digital experiences. With over 20 years making and selling handmade goodness, I see what it takes to make your work look, feel, and sell like you.

Why I Work with Handmade Businesses

  • I understand your world

With 20 years of experience in the handmade industry, I know exactly what it’s like to pour your heart into your work while juggling everything else that comes with running a small business. I’ve been there, wearing all the hats, stretching every dollar, and doing it all because you care deeply about what you create.

  • I speak your language

I’ve worked the craft fairs, packed the orders, and agonized over product photos. So when we work together, you don’t have to explain what makes your work meaningful or how your business runs, I already get it.

  • I believe in your values

Connection, creativity, sustainability, purpose, these are the values that drive so many handmade businesses, and they’re at the heart of everything I do too. I build websites that reflect your unique story and help you reach people who’ll truly value your work.

  • I want to see you thrive

I don’t just want to make you a beautiful website, I want to help you build a sustainable, joy-filled business. Whether you’re starting from a DIY template or going fully custom, I’m here to make the process feel supportive, clear, and empowering.

What I bring to your creative business

  • Experience

With 20 year’s experience in handmade business, marketing, and web design, I create digital tools tailored specifically for makers.

  • Strategy

With UX/UI training and years spent in the handmade world, I combine ease-of-use with visual storytelling.

  • Heart

I believe in championing your craft as a vital, creative economy, so I approach every project with empathy, cheer, and care.

Why you will love working with me

  • Where do you live?

I live in Nova Scotia, but I’m originally from Lancashire in the UK (ey up, chuck!).

  • Have you always been a Web designer?

Nope! I’ve worked in the handmade industry for twenty years, owning two handmade businesses - one printing and sewing homewares, the other designing digital knitting patterns. In 2022 I got diagnosed with ADHD at 38 years old and it pushed me to pursue something I never dreamed possible; A career in website design!

  • Where did you study website design?

I went back to school to study UX/UI design with Google and recieved my UX Design Specialization certificate! I then invested in both the Standout Squarespace and Standout Shopify courses from Squarestylist to ensure I could design and build beautiful, user-friendly websites for my clients to use, and their customers to visit. Plus, coding is SUPER fun!
